New Combat Traditions for Voidrunners

The Level Up: Advanced 5E Adventurer’s Guide introduced a range of combat traditions and their associated combat maneuvers, and the Voidrunner’s Codex introduces three new combat traditions specially designed for futuristic, psionic, and starfighter combat! Here’s a quick peek!

Ace Starfighter Combat Maneuvers

Ace Maneuvering: Switch an enemy’s lock for one of your own.

A Game of Chicken: Force another ship to swerve or collide.

Barrel Roll: Cause attacker to suffer disadvantage.

Bombing Formation: Allied ships coordinate a salvo.

Dive Bomb: Make an attack with advantage but risk collision.

Escort Formation: Protect a single ship but make the escorts more vulnerable.

Hit The Brakes: Make an attack against an enemy who has locked on to you.

Interceptor Formation: Share your lock-on with your allies.

Lock On: Gain advantage to attack your target.

Lose Them: Cause all enemy ships to lose their locks on you.

Pull Up: Reroll a saving throw.

Scouting Formation: Gain expertise on Perception and initiative checks.

Shake Them Off: Cause an enemy to lose its lock on you.

Stealth Formation: You and your allies gain expertise on Stealth checks in your starfighter.

Targeted Fire: Target a capital ship’s weapon or deck.

Trench Run: Make a daring run against capital ship, sacrificing protection for attack potential.

Trust Your Instincts: Automatically hit your next target.

Quantum Slip: Cause successful attacks to miss for this round.

Blazing Starglaive Maneuvers

Blinding Light: Blind foes within 10 feet of you.

Deflect Missile: Reflect a ranged attack back at the attacker.

Earthstrike: Knock nearby creatures prone with a psychic shockwave.

Guided Throw: Attack a creature within 30 feet using your starglaive.

High Ground: Use a height advantage to interrupt your attacker with an attack of your own.

Imbued Strike: Deal extra psychic damage when you hit.

Pass-Through: Ignore target’s defenses by quickly deactivating then reactivating your starglaive.

Psychic Sunder: Break an object with your starglaive.

Reeling Strike: Pull a foe towards you and then strike them with your weapon.

Quickdraw: Use an action to draw and attack with a starglaive within 15 feet of you.

Reactive Re-arm: Summon your starglaive when disarmed.

Sever Limb: Bypass damage resistance and sever a limb.

Shielded Stance: Increase your AC against ranged weapons attacks.

Total Dismemberment: Bypass damage resistance and sever 1d4 limbs.

Trusting Stance: Turn attack rolls of 9 or less into rolls of 10.

Unstoppable Attack: Bypass damage immunity.

Mindful Body Maneuvers

Always Prepared: Take the ready action as a bonus action.

Anticipated Intercept: Move to intercept an enemy’s movement.

Assess Defenses: Gain advantage on an Attack action.

Blind Stance: Gain blindsight and immunity to the blinded condition.

Calculated Trajectory: Gain expertise and ignore cover on a ranged weapon attack.

Elusive Maneuvering: Use Dash or Disengage as a bonus action.

Gunner’s Focus: Gain advantage with a vehicle weapon attack.

Kinesthetic Geometry: Gain expertise and extra range on a thrown attack, which returns to your hand and allows you to make another immediate melee attack.

Martial Alacrity: Make two unarmed strikes after making a weapon attack.

Pilot’s Trance Stance: Gain a range of benefits while piloting a vehicle.

Psychosomatic Encouragement: Grant temporary hit points to an ally.

Starfield Vision: Gain advantage on a capital ship system action.

Sympathetic Heart Stop: Deal psychic damage with a touch and stun your target.

Tactical Retreat: Use your reaction to grant the Disengage action to you and your allies.

Thoughtful Assistance: Take the Help action as a bonus action.
