Level Up Gateway February Dev Update

This past month we’ve continued Level Up Gateway’s push towards level 10 and eliminated more bugs thanks to your diligent bug reports. The Rogue, Adept, Cleric and Herald are all supported up to level 10 now (adding to the Fighter and Wizard from last month).

Standout Features

Some additions for levels 6-10 stand out are the Sun Priest Cleric’s 8th level Harness The Flame which adds radiant/fire damage to cantrip and weapon damage. In addition to being a thematic and effective combat feature it’s great to see the damage and type reflected on character’s actions and spells:

The Rogue’s 6th level Self-Preservation feature is great for the incredible degree of customization it affords the character and we managed to display the choices in an easy to parse selection list:

The Herald’s Aura features we decided to list along with notes under saving throws because of how often they come into play and need to be referenced:

Other Changes

Adjacent to the levels 6-10 additions we also implemented missing higher degree Combat Maneuvers and made some changes to how skills, tools and notes are displayed.

Tools are now displayed similarly to skills so that expertise and notes for each tool can be shown alongside them. Unlike skills though, which include the ability modifier of the most commonly used ability with the skill, tools show the modifier without the ability modifier since there is no most common ability for each tool. When rolling digitally, clicking the modifier will always open the dice menu where an ability can be chosen (Right clicking opens this menu for skills where a different ability can be chosen).

Skill notes now expand on hover to make it easier to read longer notes. These notes are usually edited for brevity but still take multiple lines.

And some features now add notes that appear at the end of the skills list similar to notes beneath saving throws.

Bugfixes

A full list of bugfixes can be found on the changelog but some notable fixes are:

  • A crash that was causing the server to occasionally become unreachable for short periods.

  • Mobile support for standalone characters.

  • Some spells not displaying and crashing the mage.

  • Warlock extended spell list getting added to known spells instead of spells available learn.

  • Some errors in weapon and item details (price, weight, etc.)
